Roof damage isn't always as clear cut as a leaky roof or missing roof. Sometimes the damage is subtle but when left unresolved, over time will result in significant damage to the roof and surrounding structures. Today we will explore three methods to identify roof damage.
Outside Inspection
Symptoms of roofing damage can be seen simply by inspecting the exterior of your home. Indicators are shingles that are curled, cracked, missing, dark, wet, or mildewed. You may also notice granules in your gutters or on the ground or flashing tears or buckling. On the extreme you may notice sagging on the roof deck.
Inside Inspection
Additional symptoms may appear on the interior of your home even if exterior damage cannot be seen from the ground level. Indicators are discoloration on the ceiling or walls as well as water spots. Even small spots may indicate a much larger issue with the integrity of your roof.
